A sample explainer: return to player is a long-run average, not an expectation for any single session.

Game descriptions often show an RTP percentage. This sample explainer covers what the label means and where people misread it.
A long-run average
RTP is a theoretical figure calculated over a very large number of plays, far more than one person will ever make.
A common misunderstanding
It is not a refund rate for your session. In a short session you can lose everything you staked, whatever the label says.
Swings versus margin
Some games pay out often in small amounts, others rarely but in bigger sums. That pattern is volatility, and it does not change the operator's margin.
